Why A Product Catalog is SO Important For Your Wholesale Business

This is literally one of my favorite topics! In this blog post we are going to dive deep into the importance of having a wholesale catalog. Because before you can reach out to wholesalers, you need something super professional to present to them. If you want to be taken seriously in the wholesale world you will need to establish a wholesale catalog. Retail customers will ask you for a catalog or line sheet, and you really want to look like a professional when you provide your catalog before they even ask for it.

Your catalog can tell a story about who you are and what your band is all about. It professionally showcases your items. And those retail customers are going to ask, so you need to be prepared to deliver when they do! Retailers literally have a million choices when it comes to which brands they are going to stock their shelves with. Do you think they are going for the polished and put together brand that has their shit together? Or are they gravitating towards the products that don’t have professional photos, unorganized, and look like a hot mess express? I think you know the answers.


Here is a link to my personal Kitty Meow catalog, but let me highlight some essentials when designing your catalog that you need to keep in mind.

• Awesome image for the cover that shows a great range of products

• Organized flow of products on each page. Think of your catalog pages like a grid!

• Combo of silhouette images (product on white background) & on brand styled images

• An About Page with a photo of YOU! Tell your brand story, what you stand for, & show personality!

• Assign each product SKU a short title. That way you & the retailer are all on the same page when referring to certain products.

• Prices, Product dimensions, & other product info on each page. Don’t make the retailer go searching

• Clearly state the process of placing an order + turnaround time

Now to refresh… the entire point of your wholesale catalog is to…

  • Tell a story about who you are and what your brand is all about

  • Professionally showcase your items - again give the VIBE & EMOTION of your products & brand

  • Be prepared to deliver this catalog BEFORE retailers ask - because they will ask!
